Following on from my last piece about loneliness in shooting film, I’ve been thinking about what comes after that solitude, about the quiet trust we place in process, in chemistry, in time.

It isn’t just about making pictures; it’s about learning how to stand still in the world, to listen to it quietly, and to feel both part of it and apart from it at the same time.

When I came across Sound Snap at Analogue Revival, it felt like a small gift, another sound film, waiting to be tested, waiting to be repurposed.

If you’ve never tried it, film souping is basically dunking your roll in weird stuff from the kitchen and seeing what happens. Citrus, cola, wine, beer, herbs…you name it, someone has probably tried it (and that someone is probably me!).

Analogue photography thrives on this kind of community. Unlike ordering film online or uploading images to a faceless server, supporting a local lab keeps the culture alive in real time.
