about

Sam is a film photographer who primarily works in black and white, often experimenting with unconventional developing methods and using expired film. He enjoys using old cameras and traditional darkroom techniques, taking time with each step of the process.

For Sam, making the photograph is just as important as the final picture. His work often explores feelings of solitude, hidden boundaries, and the intersection between city life and the natural world.

He has recently been announced as the 2025–26 Creative in Residence for the Barbican Creative Hub. During this time, Sam will continue exploring experimental film processes, while creating images that celebrate the beauty of everyday moments and reflect on the idea of impermanence.
